Lent starts with a fast, and it is something I dread. However, I’ve realized something obvious: I’m not the only one fasting on Ash Wednesday. I’m not the only one called by the Church to remember that I am dust, and to dust I shall return. I’m not the only one called to say “no” to myself and “yes” to Jesus Christ and his Church.

A couple of months back I wondered if being a sede vacante (vacant seat) diocese would affect the number of men who seek to discern the priesthood. This is because from a theological point of view the bishop is the point of unity for a diocese and plays a central role in the work of vocations.
