Over 100 young adults gathered in the St. Patrick Cathedral Pastoral Center Courtyard under balmy, nearly-summer skies for the official kickoff of the Fort Worth Chapter of Young Catholic Professionals (YCP) on Tuesday, May 20.

“What’s so special about this event is that Fort Worth is the first new chapter of what has the potential to be a national organization,” said Mary Elizabeth Levy, Vice President of Development for the Fort Worth Chapter.  “We’re kind of the guinea pigs: the first chapter to expand beyond of the original.”

The organization began as a Dallas-based non-profit to help young Catholics in their 20s and 30s network professionally and grow in their faith while getting established in their careers.

“It has been a great success in Dallas,” said Levy. “The group brings Catholics together for speaker events and networking in order to foster Catholic identity, encourage community, and inspire a call to action.”

YCP’s mission to “Work in Witness for Christ” will take on special meaning at the Fort Worth Chapter’s first Executive Speaker event featuring Heather Reynolds, President and CEO of Catholic Charities Fort Worth.  All Catholic professionals in their 20s and 30s are invited to St. Patrick Cathedral’s Pastoral Center on Tuesday, June 17 from 7 to 9 p.m. to hear Reynolds speak and to learn more about Young Catholic Professionals.  The event is free.
