MLK-'14-Fr.-Kenneth-Hamilton-BUTTON.jpgThe cavernous church of St. Vincent De Paul Parish in Arlington resounded with ancient drumming, solemn spirituals, and the joyous strains of Gospel music as people from around the diocese gathered for the 28th Annual Martin Luther King, Jr. Memorial Mass Jan. 11. From the entrance procession to the final sending forth, voices and hands were raised in celebration, praise, and thanksgiving to God for this great American leader and favored son within the African-American community.

Dallas-March-'14-Button.jpgFar outgrowing the Cathedral Shrine of the Virgin of Guadalupe where the event had begun its assembly of participating Catholics in the past, thousands of pro-lifers from across North Texas packed the Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center in Dallas for the Roe Memorial Mass prior to taking to the streets of downtown for the 41st Dallas March for Life, Saturday, Jan. 18. Speaking to the more than 6,500 people in the arena, Father Alfonse Nazzaro of All Saints Parish in Dallas, summed up the key factor behind the growth and progress of the pro-life movement in America.


Diocese sponsors North Texas pro-lifers to join thousands others in Texas Rally for Life in Austin

TX-Rally-'14-Button.jpgMore than 100 Catholics from the Diocese of Fort Worth joined their voices with several thousand pro-life supporters at the Texas Rally for Life on the steps of the State Capitol in Austin Jan. 25 in loud approval of comments from elected officials and other speakers. They traveled to Austin on buses chartered by the diocese’s Respect Life Office. That office’s director, Mike Demma, said this was the first Texas Rally for Life bus trip to Austin that the diocese has organized. Past trips were undertaken by parishes and church-related organizations.
