Father Manuel Holguin, diocesan priest, dies at 47

FORT WORTH — Father Cruz Manuel Holguin Ogaz, a priest for the Diocese of Fort Worth, died on September 20, 2025, after a lengthy illness.
The son of Everardo Holguin Camacho and Maria Guadalupe Ogaz Bonilla, Fr. Holguin was born on May 3, 1978, in Jimenez, Chihuahua, Mexico. A fraternal twin, he was raised with two sisters, Maria Guadalupe and Maria Lourdes, and two brothers, Everardo and Hector.
Fr. Holguin earned a degree in accounting and worked as an auditor before entering seminary for the priesthood at the age of 24.
He was ordained as a priest for the Diocese of Fort Worth on June 9, 2012, at St. Patrick Cathedral.
After his ordination, Fr. Holguin served as a parochial vicar at Immaculate Conception Parish in Denton, St. Matthew Parish in Arlington, and St. John the Apostle Parish in North Richland Hills.
From 2016 – 2020, he was pastor of St. Peter the Apostle Parish in White Settlement, then was appointed pastor of All Saints Parish in Fort Worth until 2021, when he requested to step away from active ministry.
A vigil will be held Wednesday, September 24, at 6 p.m. at St. Peter the Apostle Church at 1201 S. Cherry Lane in White Settlement.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, September 25, at 11 a.m. at St. Peter the Apostle Church, followed by interment at 1:30 p.m. at Mount Olivet Cemetery, 2301 N. Sylvania Ave. in Fort Worth.
Should friends desire, memorials may be given to St. Peter the Apostle Catholic School.
